Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, said that the logistics sector is a major driver of state trade and a main pillar of the diversification of the national economy.

This came during a meeting held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy in Dubai, in the presence of Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, with Scott Price, President of the global company “UPS”.

The two sides discussed the future of the logistics industry and the changes that have occurred in this vital sector, global trends towards re-designing the supply and supply chain system, and the role that the UAE can play in this new system by taking advantage of the capabilities and capabilities that the state enjoys in this regard.

The meeting also discussed ways to develop aspects of cooperation between the Ministry and UPS to enhance the country’s competitiveness as a global logistics center and a pioneering economy in adopting modern technology, through a joint project in cooperation with the “UAE RegLab” Legislation Laboratory, which represents a platform for testing future technologies to develop new ideas. Serving the transportation and shipping system.

Abdullah bin Touq said: “The UAE has a global success story that began 50 years ago, by opening up to the world, developing wide international partnerships, and possessing a business environment that stimulates growth and attracts investments, which made the country the preferred choice and the first destination for many international companies that have taken the UAE. A second headquarters and home for conducting its business and accessing the region’s markets from it.”

Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi said that promoting openness and access to new commercial markets is the title of the next stage. Foreign trade is one of the main drivers of the country’s economy during the next 50 years. He reviewed the current efforts led by the UAE, under the guidance of its wise leadership, to expand and strengthen the network of trade relations.

Scott Price, President of UPS International, said that the UAE is an important and influential player in the movement of trade, transport and shipping in the region.
