The Tunisian security services thwarted a number of illegal immigration operations in a number of regions of the country, arrested 83 people and seized boats and marine engines.

The Tunisian Ministry of the Interior said on Monday, “National Guard units in the North Sea seized 9 people who were intending to stealthily cross the maritime borders towards the European space,” and seized a rubber boat, two marine engines and a quantity of gasoline. The Navy arrested 35 people and seized 2 boats and 3 marine engines.

The ministry pointed out that “National Guard units in the Central and Mahdia seas were able to thwart 5 border crossings, seize 24 pedestrians, and seize 3 vehicles, a motorcycle and a sum of money from the Tunisian currency, in addition to seizing a 12-caliber hunting rifle without a license.” And the inspection of the National Guard in Gebneana resulted from the arrest of a person in order to “form an accord aimed at helping people to cross the maritime borders surreptitiously.”
