This week we mark the opening of International Breast Cancer Awareness Month together with one in nine associations. The goal of the coming month is to raise awareness of the importance of early detection of the most common cancer among women.
As a sign of solidarity with the move, Maccabi Tel Aviv players will tonight wear the pink awareness film, which indicates support for the fight against breast cancer, on top of the representation clothes with which they will arrive in Bloomfield for the game against Hapoel Jerusalem.
This is an opportunity to tell that every year about 5,500 new blue women are diagnosed with breast cancer in Israel, about a quarter of them under the age of 50, and the vast majority do not belong to any risk group. The association recommends that women start being examined by a breast surgeon from the age of 30 and request a referral for a mammogram from the age of 40.
