The Council of the General Syndicate of the Egyptian Writers Union, headed by the poet Dr. Alaa Abdel-Hadi, decided, in its last meeting, to hold the next Syndicate conference, and to form preparatory committees for it, entitled: “The Future of Culture in Egypt: Critical Insights and Alternatives.”.”
The union said in a statement that the conference comes as a sense from the union of the importance of the participation of civil society organizations from unions and cultural associations in presenting its vision, and contributing to the development of a cultural alternative. The Syndicate, and the conference’s proposals, recommendations, and actions will be submitted to the political leadership.
Concerned unions and cultural associations will be invited to participate widely in the work of the conference. The convening of this conference with this title is a sensing from the General Syndicate of the Egyptian Writers Union, including thinkers, critics, poets, playwrights, novelists, translators, children’s writers, science fiction, screenwriters and dramatists. The importance of the development and construction movement in the state having a similar cultural movement, that is supportive of the state, and aware of Egypt’s cultural value and position, and will soon announce the conference’s themes and objectives.
