Cairo – Mubasher: The eighth edition of Pharmaconex, the leading exhibition for the pharmaceutical industry in North Africa, opened today at the Egypt International Exhibition Center (EIEC) in New Cairo under the auspices of the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Egyptian Medicines Authority.
For her part, Rasha Ziadeh, Assistant Chairman of the Authority for Development Affairs and Capacity Development, said that the localization of the drug industry is the main goal that the Authority sets in mind, as the Authority aims to continue to secure the availability of safe, effective and high quality medicine on a regular and sustainable basis for the patient, with the need to open external horizons for export. She added that the authority provides all means of technical support to the manufacturers; To facilitate the registration and start of circulation of a number of important products that are planned to be produced locally.”
She added that the exhibition covers the basic sectors of pharmaceutical manufacturing, including raw materials and active materials, machinery, equipment and technology, pharmaceutical packaging, biopharmaceuticals, laboratory equipment and all aspects of the final dose supply chain, with the participation of many Arab and foreign countries, including Egypt, Jordan, India, Germany, Italy and Spain.
For his part, the Indian Ambassador, Ajit Gupte, inaugurated the Indian pavilion in the exhibition, in which more than 50 companies specialized in the production of raw materials, active materials, machinery, equipment and technology are participating.
Gupte expressed his country’s constant desire to support bilateral relations between the two countries, which he described as solid, in addition to the constant keenness of Indian companies to participate in Pharmaconex, as it is a great platform for the meeting of pharmaceutical manufacturers in Africa.
For his part, Mostafa Khalil, Director of Exhibitions at Informa Egypt, the organizer of Pharmaconex, said, “The pharmaceutical industry is one of the oldest strategic sectors in Egypt, as the state has paid great attention to achieving self-sufficiency in medicines, and has also adopted policies aimed at developing medicines at various stages of industry, on the The level of raw materials used in pharmaceuticals, basic chemicals, manufacturing and packaging, as well as marketing, sale and export.
The vital role of Pharmaconex comes by linking major buyers and local manufacturers specializing in pharmaceuticals with the most important local and international suppliers to create new business partnership opportunities that contribute to strengthening the pharmaceutical industry and attracting more foreign investments to local industries.
Today also witnessed the launch of the specialized Pharmaconex conference, which includes more than 20 scientific sessions to discuss the latest technologies and challenges in the industry, which aims to develop the pharmaceutical industry in Africa and ways to promote the Egyptian final product to compete in global markets.
