She added, there is cause for optimism, as during the World Health Assembly held in May 2021, governments from all countries of the world recognized the need to improve the quality of mental health services at all levels, and some countries have already devised new ways to provide mental health care to their populations.

During this year’s campaign, 18 months have passed since the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, and while life has begun to return somewhat to normal in some countries, infection transmission and hospitalization rates remain high in others, continuing to disrupt the lives of families and communities..

The organization said in a statement, that the survey conducted by the World Health Organization in mid-2020 clearly showed that mental health and neurological services and substance abuse treatment services were severely disrupted during the Corona pandemic, adding, that there is cause for optimism, during the World Health Assembly in May 2021, Governments from all countries of the world recognize the need to improve the quality of mental health services at all levels and endorse the WHO’s Comprehensive Mental Health Action Plan 2013-2030, including updating options for implementation of the plan and indicators for measuring progress in its implementation.

The organization said, The time has come to harness this renewable energy among government leaders in order to turn the goal of quality mental health care for all into a reality, and World Mental Health Day provides an opportunity for leaders of governments, civil society organizations and many others to talk about the steps they have already taken and intend to take in The way to reach this goal.

In late September, WHO launched a new edition of the Mental Health Atlas, providing a clear picture of the resources available for mental health, both in some countries and globally. The atlas also highlighted the progress made in recent years and the gaps that remain to be addressed. .
