He added, via his Twitter account: “The peak of the cyclone Shaheen today and tomorrow, God willing, will affect Oman and the UAE.

He continued, “Shaheen is still coherent and classified as a Category 1 hurricane, which is the lowest degree in the scale of tropical cyclone classification (from 1-5).”

And he added: “Ain Hurricane Shaheen is about 90 km from Muscat (at dawn today), 340 km from the Emirati Al Ain, and 560 km from the Saudi Shaybah center east of the Empty Quarter. The direction of the horizontal movement is west.”

He said: “The horizontal speed is 10 km per hour, the rotational speed around the eye of the hurricane is 120 km per hour, and the atmospheric pressure is 979 millibars.”
