Essam Abdel-Fattah, head of the referees committee in the Football Association, confirmed that he will demand the application of VAR technology in the Egyptian Cup semi-final and final matches.
Abdel-Fattah said in statements to On Time Sports 2: “I do not know how the Egypt Cup competition began without video technology, but I will demand the Football Association for the presence of VAR, starting from the semi-finals of the competition.”
He added, “We will work to develop the level of referees in Egypt so that we do not have to resort to video technology a lot during matches.”
He continued, “I have a good relationship with the Competitions Committee, and we will try to hold courses for referees on how to apply video technology to develop their level during the coming period.”
And he concluded his statements: “If any Egyptian referee shines in the upcoming African Nations Championship, he may be on the list of referees present in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.”
