Cairo, October 1 (Arab Sports Service) – The Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz of the new Egypt national team suddenly excluded the two players of Al-Ahly Mohamed Sherif and Mohamed Magdy (Qafsha) before the two matches against Libya in the World Cup qualifiers.
Sharif’s exclusion came one day after he scored two goals during the 2-0 victory over Liberia in a friendly match with the participation of Qafsha, in the first match under the leadership of Queiroz, while he preferred to rely on Ahmed Hassan (Koka) and Mustafa Mohamed.
The professional trio outside of Egypt, Ahmed Yasser Rayan, Wissam Morsi and Karim Hafez, was absent from the final squad after being selected in a tentative list.
Also out of the squad were Mustafa Fathi, the Zamalek wing, Ahmed Samir and Muhannad Lashin from the pioneers of the army, and Ali Gabr and Ahmed Tawfiq, the defense duo of Pyramids.
Veteran Pyramids right-back Ahmed Fathi returned to the squad after a long absence alongside Al-Ahly defender Yasser Ibrahim.
Egypt will meet Libya in the third and fourth rounds of Group F in the World Cup qualifiers on the eighth and 11th of this month.
Libya leads the group with six points, compared to four points for Egypt and one point for Gabon, while Angola is bottom of the standings without points.
Only the group leaders qualify for the final round of qualifiers, which includes a decisive match, the winner of which qualifies for the finals in Qatar next year.
