New York: Japanese car group Nissan has offered a friendly settlement to a group of US investors to resolve a dispute over compensation paid to former company chief Carlos Ghosn.
These investors accuse the company of making misleading statements about the sums Ghosn received during his tenure as group chairman.
The “class action” is being brought against Nissan by the Jackson County Employee Pension Fund in Tennessee on behalf of him and other US investors.
On Wednesday, Judge William Campbell Jr., of Nashville federal court, granted a joint request from the plaintiffs and Nissan to stop legal proceedings with the goal of reaching an amicable settlement within 40 days.
In response to a question by AFP, Nissan declined to comment on an ongoing case.
Also, the lawyer for Greg Kelly, a former collaborator with Ghosn named in the file, did not respond to AFP’s requests for comment.
Kelly was released on bail in Tokyo, where he has been on trial for a year for embezzlement at Nissan under Carlos Ghosn.
