The technical staff of the Egyptian national football team, led by the Portuguese Carlos Queiroz, announced the final list of the names of the players joining the team’s camp, which starts tomorrow, in preparation for the meeting with the Libyan national team in the World Cup qualifiers.

“Querush”, Mohamed Magdy Afsha and Mohamed Sherif, excluded Al-Ahly players from the ranks of the Egyptian team.

A source within the technical staff of the first Egyptian football team revealed the scenes and secrets of the session of “Keirosh” with the technical staff of the Egyptian team, during which the coach decided to exclude “Sherif and Afsha” from the final list against Libya.

In exclusive statements to Al-Ahram Gate, the source confirmed that there is no need to judge the decisions of Portuguese Carlos Queiroz early.

He said: “We trained for 4 days and played one friendly match against Liberia. There is no need to anticipate events. We have two important matches against Libya. Our goal is to quickly correct our position in the World Cup qualifiers, and seize the 6 points.”

He added, “We called the Portuguese “Queiroz” today, Friday, in a closed meeting at the residence hotel, to resolve the final list of players and determine those excluded from the list, before the camp resumes tomorrow, Saturday, and the decision to exclude “Afsha and Sharif” was made by “Queiroz.”

He stressed that the decision was issued by “Queiroz” for purely technical reasons, noting that this does not reduce the value of “Afsha and Sharif”, as they are two important elements in the national team.

He added that the exclusion decision is related to the way Queiroz plays, in which he will play against Libya in the third and fourth rounds of the World Cup qualifiers, and not for any injuries.

The list of Egypt’s national team included 24 players:

Goalkeepers: Mohamed El-Shennawy, Mohamed Abu Jabal, Mohamed Bassam and Mohamed Sobhi.

Defense lines: Akram Tawfiq, Ahmed Fathi, Ahmed Hegazy, Baher Al-Mohammadi, Mahmoud Hamdi “Al Wensh”, Yasser Ibrahim, Ahmed Abu Al-Fotouh and Ayman Ashraf.

Midfield: Mohamed Elneny, Amr Al-Sulayya, Tariq Hamed and Hamdi Fathi.

Attacking midfield: Ahmed Sayed “Zizou”, Mohamed Salah, Abdullah Al-Saeed, Ibrahim Adel, Ramadan Sobhi and Omar Marmoush.

Yesterday, Thursday, the Egyptian team defeated Liberia 2-0 in an international friendly match, as part of the two teams’ preparations to resume the African qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup in 2022.

The Egyptian team succeeded in achieving its first victory under the leadership of its new coach, Carlos Queiroz, who was appointed to succeed Hossam El-Badri, who was recently sacked.

Mohamed Sherif scored the first goal for the Egyptian team in the 58th minute, before adding the second goal in the 67th minute.

The Egyptian team is preparing to face its Libyan counterpart in the third and fourth rounds of the sixth group of African qualifiers for the World Cup, where they will play on the eighth of next October in Egypt, while the second match will be held in Libya on the 11th of the same month.

Egypt ranks second in the group with four points, two points behind Libya, the group leader, while Gabon is third with one point, and Angola is at the bottom of the standings without a balance of points.
