Mohamed Sherif and Mohamed Magdy “Afsha” were left out of the Egyptian national team’s final list for the Libya matches, while Ahmed Fathi and Yasser Ibrahim joined.
Egypt coach Carlos Queiroz announced the final squad list for Libya’s next two matches.
The list witnessed major surprises, on top of which was the exclusion of Mohamed Sherif, the Egyptian national team striker, and Mohamed Magdy “Afsha” the playmaker.
The professional trio Sam Morsi, Karim Hafez and Ahmed Yasser Rayan were also eliminated from the final list.
On the other hand, Queiroz summoned Ahmed Fathi, Dahir Ayman Pyramids, and Yasser Ibrahim for the final list, after they were absent from the first announced list.
Mohamed Hamdi, the left back of the left Pyramids, was also excluded from the final list, after the injury he suffered against Liberia.
The final list of the Egyptian national team was as follows:
Goalkeepers: Mohamed El-Shennawy (Al-Ahly) – Mohamed Abu Jabal (Zamalek) – Mohamed Sobhi (Farco) – Mohamed Bassam (Vanguards of the Army).
Defense: Ahmed Fattouh (Zamalek) – Ayman Ashraf (Al-Ahly) – Mahmoud Hamdi “Al-Wensh” (Zamalek) – Yasser Ibrahim (Al-Ahly) – Ahmed Hegazy (Ittihad Jeddah) – Baher Al-Mohammadi (Ismaili) – Akram Tawfiq (Al-Ahly) – Ahmed Fathi (Pyramids).
Midfield: Mohamed Elneny (Arsenal) – Amr Al-Sulayya (Al-Ahly) – Tarek Hamed (Zamalek) – Hamdi Fathi (Al-Ahly) – Ibrahim Adel (Pyramids) – Abdullah Al-Saeed (Pyramids) – Ramadan Sobhi (Pyramids) – Ahmed Sayed “Zizou” (Pyramids).

Attack: Ahmed Yasser Rayan (Altay Sport) – Mohamed Sherif (Al-Ahly).
Egypt played a friendly match against Liberia on Thursday, which the Pharaohs won with two goals to none, scored by Mohamed Sherif.
Egypt is preparing to face Libya on October 8 and 11, in the third and fourth rounds of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
