The Portuguese coach, Carlos Queiroz, the new Egypt national team coach, suddenly excluded the Al-Ahly duo Mohamed Sherif and Mohamed Magdy (Qafsha) before the two matches against Libya in the World Cup qualifiers.

Sharif’s exclusion came one day after he scored two goals during the 2-0 victory over Liberia in a friendly match with the participation of Qafsha, in the first match under the leadership of Queiroz, while he preferred to rely on Ahmed Hassan (Koka) and Mustafa Mohamed.

The professional trio outside of Egypt, Ahmed Yasser Rayan, Wissam Morsi and Karim Hafez, was absent from the final squad after being selected in a tentative list.

Also out of the squad were Mustafa Fathi, the Zamalek wing, Ahmed Samir and Muhannad Lashin from the pioneers of the army, and Ali Gabr and Ahmed Tawfiq, the defense duo of Pyramids.

Veteran Pyramids right-back Ahmed Fathi returned to the squad after a long absence alongside Al-Ahly defender Yasser Ibrahim.

Egypt will meet Libya in the third and fourth rounds of Group F in the World Cup qualifiers on the eighth and 11th of this month.

Libya leads the group with six points, compared to four points for Egypt and one point for Gabon, while Angola is bottom of the standings without points.

Only the group leaders qualify for the final round of qualifiers, which includes a decisive match, the winner of which qualifies for the finals in Qatar next year.

The lineup was as follows:

Goalkeepers: Mohamed El-Shennawy, Mohamed Abu Jabal, Mohamed Sobhi and Mohamed Bassam.

Defenders: Ahmed Fattouh, Ayman Ashraf, Mahmoud Hamdi (The Wench), Yasser Ibrahim, Ahmed Hegazy, Baher Al-Mohammadi, Akram Tawfiq and Ahmed Fathi.

Midfielders: Mohamed Elneny, Amr Al-Soliya, Tariq Hamed, Hamdi Fathi, Ibrahim Adel, Abdullah Al-Saeed, Ramadan Sobhi and Ahmed Sayed (Zizou).

Forwards: Mohamed Salah, Omar Marmoush, Ahmed Hassan (Koka), Mustafa Mohamed.
