The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Russia and Armenia discussed by phone the implementation of agreements with Azerbaijan

Today, Friday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had a phone conversation with his Armenian counterpart, Ararat Mirzoyan, in which they discussed “vital issues of the bilateral agenda, including in the context of the upcoming high-level contacts,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

And she indicated, in a statement, that they agreed to “increase contacts between the ministries and relevant bodies, and work to hold the 20th session of the Governmental Committee for Economic Cooperation, as well as the 8th Regional Forum until late 2021,” noting that they paid “special attention to issues of regional stability and security, primarily the implementation of Tripartite Agreements, of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia, issued on November 9, 2020 and January 11, 2021.

And the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that “the two ministers expressed a common opinion that stopping the blocking of communications in the fields of transport and economy in the South Caucasus, passing confidence-building measures, and increasing mutually beneficial cooperation between neighbors, will contribute to the subsequent normalization of the situation in the region,” as Lavrov stressed. On the importance of a systematic solution to vital humanitarian problems, and above all the return of detained persons, the handing over of maps of minefields, and the preservation of cultural heritage facilities.
