Prime Minister Najib Mikati received a phone call from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in which he congratulated him on gaining confidence in the government, wishing Lebanon to recover quickly and enjoy perpetual prosperity.
Erdogan invited President Mikati to visit Turkey and discuss all that Lebanon needs in this difficult period it is going through.

Prime Minister Mikati chaired this afternoon a ministerial meeting to discuss the issue of completing the start of the school year and the demands of public sector teachers.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Education and Higher Education Abbas Al-Halabi, Minister of Finance Youssef Khalil, Minister of Communications Johnny Al-Qarm, Minister of Public Health Firas Al-Abyad, Minister of Energy and Water Walid Fayyad, Minister of Public Works and Transport Ali Himiya, Director General of Education Fadi Yarak, Secretary General of the Council of Ministers Judge Mahmoud Makiya and Director of the Prime Minister’s Office Jamal Karim.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister of Education made the following statement: We held a meeting to discuss the issues raised with the start of the school year, in light of the government’s direct teaching on October 11, and the necessity and priority for the success of this school year and the provision of its requirements. Providing the necessary supplies for the start and success of the school year.
There are multiple dimensions to providing these necessities, including securing fuel, transporting students, teachers, and administrative staff, providing the necessary health protection, and starting a comprehensive vaccination process for all members of the educational sector. The provision of the Internet on the day designated for distance learning, which is only one day per week, was discussed. We also discussed with His Excellency the Minister of Finance the possibility of meeting the rightful demands of teachers. After deliberating with donors, there were multiple possibilities to respond to this year’s requirements, and in cooperation with donors and United Nations organizations, I was able to obtain a financial donation of more than seventy million dollars to support the educational sector, provided that this academic year be attended.
He added: During the meeting, we confirmed the eligibility of the demands of the educational authority, and the cost of these demands was discussed, in light of the working paper that we presented to the meeting, and His Excellency the Minister of Finance was very positive in achieving the achievable demands.
In light of this meeting, I invite teachers and school administrations to start registering students, and early next week I will invite representatives of teachers, educational unions and contractors to a meeting to present the details of this support that the educational sector received this year from donors and the Lebanese government.
I call on everyone to start registration at all levels of education, and this is a necessary condition for grants to be received, because donors always ask about registration data that we have not yet had. I also call on school administrations to prepare with teachers for the opening of the school year and to invite students on the eleventh of this month to join their schools.
It was also pointed out that the issues of education are not limited only to the financial aspects, but also to the psychological health of students, which we pay great attention to, in addition to not compromising the future of children.
He concluded by saying: Lebanon possesses nothing but human capital, and education is the mainstay of this capital, and I personally felt from the teachers the extent of the responsibility they have and the positivity with which they deal, but there are circumstances that must be taken into account.

The Prime Minister held a meeting with Minister of Health Firas Al-Abyad and discussed with him the affairs of his ministry.
