The competent authorities in Saudi Arabia announced that they had thwarted the smuggling of a large amount of narcotic amphetamine tablets into the Kingdom, in coordination with the counterpart authorities in one of the friendly countries of the Kingdom.

The official spokesman for the General Directorate of Narcotics Control in Saudi Arabia, Major Muhammad Al-Nujaidi, stated that “the proactive security follow-up of the activities of criminal networks that smuggle drugs into the Kingdom resulted in the interception and thwarting of an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of amphetamine tablets into the Kingdom, in coordination with counterpart authorities in one of the countries.” The friend whose narcotics were passed through one of its seaports to hide their origin before arriving in the Kingdom, where the narcotic substances that were hidden inside a shipment of building materials were seized, and their total number reached (1,976,744) amphetamine tablets.

The official spokesman noted the “positive cooperation from counterpart agencies in brotherly and friendly countries, which resulted in thwarting many attempts to smuggle narcotic substances into the Kingdom.”

Al-Nujaidi stressed that “the Kingdom continues to follow up on criminal activities and its attempts to target the security of the Kingdom and its youth with drugs, to confront and thwart them, and to arrest those involved and bring them to justice.”
