Major General Mahmoud Shaarawy, Minister of Local Development, directed the concerned sectors in the ministry to take the necessary measures and speed up coordination with Major General Khaled Abdel Aal, Governor of Cairo, to launch a magnifying campaign on the Friday market in the Tunisian area of Mrs. To control wild animals, birds and reptiles that are sold in the market, especially after some paper newspapers and websites published a few days ago a press investigation into the mafia of selling wild animals in the Friday market.
The Minister of Local Development indicated, according to a statement, today, Friday, that a magnifying campaign was launched today by all the concerned authorities in Cairo on the Friday market, and a number of street vendors were arrested for selling wild animals in violation of Egyptian laws, where 8 snakes of various sizes, 4 reptiles and 3 were seized. Birds, 3 crocodiles of various sizes and 3 turtles, indicating that a report was issued and the necessary legal measures were taken.
Major General Mahmoud Shaarawy explained that with the signing of a medical examination by veterinary officials and the formed committee, it was found that the wild animals, reptiles and birds of prey that were found are in poor condition and placed in narrow cages by street vendors and handed over to the Giza Zoo until investigations are completed.
The Minister of Local Development confirmed that coordination was coordinated with Major General Khaled Abdel Aal, Governor of Cairo, to close the Friday market and warn the officials of the Khalifa neighborhood to periodically pass through that area to control any violations related to the sale of wild animals, in addition to coordination between the governorate and the Security Directorate to appoint police services in that area. The area to prevent a recurrence of the incident.
