Many questions have spread, about the reason for reducing the time between the two doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, against the emerging corona virus, Covid 19, as the first difference was about 12 weeks, but now the difference is about a month.
The consultant and head of the Allergy and Immunology Unit at the Serum and Vaccine Authority, Dr. Amjad Haddad, stated the reasons for reducing the time between the two doses of AstraZeneca to only 4 weeks, and said that the side effects of corona vaccines are considered one.
While the effectiveness of the Corona vaccine varies according to the immunity of each person, he revealed that the time distance between the two doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine is between 4 weeks to 12 weeks, and he explained that the Ministry of Health and Population was giving the second dose after 12 weeks, due to the lack of doses.
The Ministry wanted to vaccinate the largest number of citizens with vaccines, due to the outbreak of the Corona virus crisis, but after the arrival of many shipments, this caused the distance between the two doses of AstraZeneca to be reduced to 4 weeks.
Dr. Amjad Al-Haddad indicated that a distance of 4 weeks is considered better for recipients of doses, in order to give the body greater immunity against infection with the virus, compared to a period of 12 weeks, and called on citizens to adhere to precautionary measures.
Where medical masks must be worn, social distancing, washing hands constantly and staying away from crowded areas, and it was revealed that the Corona vaccine does not prevent infection with the virus, while it reduces the severity of symptoms and makes them simple and moderate instead of severe.
