The Turkish Foreign Ministry announced that the 63rd round of consultative talks with Greece to discuss the situation in the Aegean Sea and the eastern Mediterranean will be held next Wednesday.

The ministry said in a statement, on Friday, that the next round will be held in Ankara on October 6.

The last round was held in Athens on March 16, while Istanbul hosted the 61st round on January 25, 2021, and since then the term “advisory” rather than “exploratory” has been used to describe the talks.

The first round of talks between the two countries was launched in 2002 in Ankara, in order to prepare the ground for a “just, lasting and comprehensive” solution acceptable to both sides to address their differences in the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas.
