The Minister of Industry, George Boushekian, met in his office at the Ministry, the Ambassador of Lebanon to Iraq, Ali Habhab, in the presence of the Director General of the Ministry, Danny Gideon, and the Economic Adviser at the Embassy, Dr. Salah Saleh. Bushkian praised the efforts of Habhab and the embassy staff in “serving the Lebanese in Iraq and in strengthening relations between Lebanon and Iraq, which has yielded great cooperation, which has been translated in the recent period, Iraq’s supplying Lebanon with oil derivatives to operate electric power plants.”
It was a presentation of the importance of the positions and measures taken by Iraq in the recent period, and its support for Lebanon on more than one level, within the framework of the support policy pursued by the Iraqi government towards Lebanon and the Lebanese. It was an affirmation that “Iraq’s positions vis-à-vis Lebanon stem from the historical relations and their advantages between the two countries.”
The meeting also discussed the necessity of organizing an exhibition of Lebanese products in Baghdad, and Boushekian’s willingness to participate in this occasion to give impetus to it and encourage the Lebanese to participate, and to meet with Iraqi officials to study ways to enhance cooperation.
They also touched on the Iraqi-Lebanese Business Conference, which will be inaugurated by Bushkian next Monday, at the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Beirut and Mount Lebanon, stressing the importance of its timing in these difficult economic conditions, and what is expected to open new horizons for the establishment of joint relations that benefit the two countries and peoples. .
