Cairo – Mubasher: The Ministry of Local Development in Egypt announced the launch of a unified national network for emergency and safety in 5 governorates on an experimental basis.

Major General Mahmoud Sharawy, Minister of Local Development, stressed, in a statement issued today, Friday, that the Public Safety Network is a qualitative leap in achieving full and rapid coordination between all concerned parties to quickly provide emergency services and facilities and contain and manage crises with full and high efficiency in the shortest possible time.

He added that the network is being implemented on an experimental basis in Port Said governorate and will be implemented experimentally during the coming period in the governorates of Ismailia, Suez, Luxor and South Sinai, in preparation for its generalization in all governorates.

Shaarawy pointed out that the implementation of this network comes within the framework of implementing the mandates of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, so that the network is fully prepared to manage the provision of emergency services and facilities and control any crisis in the Egyptian governorates.

He pointed out that the ministry is participating with the ministries of defense, interior, communications, health and petroleum, and the National Authority for Information and Electricity in implementing the network at the level of the Republic.

He explained that the national project for the unified national network is a national governmental wireless mobile network that operates on the fourth generation technology and is separate from the Internet and all other mobile networks, and was established in accordance with scientific standards and with Egyptian hands.

The minister continued, and the network provides modern communication services concerned with emergency services and vital facilities and links between various government services to achieve speed in response between the national network for emergency and public safety and between the operations rooms of the concerned authorities to serve both citizens and tourists.

The new project is also working to provide modern data and procedures, while highlighting the role of modern applications in support and decision-making.

He said that the unified national network for emergency and public safety accommodates all concerned authorities in the governorates, and achieves cooperation and integration between them to reduce response time and speed of dealing with emergencies through the establishment of the unified control center for emergency services and public safety for the governorate by calling the citizen to the unified emergency services number.

He added that the national project for the unified network contributes to maintaining the privacy of the Egyptian state’s data, the speed of containing emergencies, disasters and crises, the speed of reaction, and supports the goals of sustainable development and Egypt’s Vision 2030. The project also aims to rationalize financial burdens, support the flow of investments and the tourism sector, and reduce Crime rates, reducing response time to the event, speeding up dealing with accidents and disasters, and even reaching global rates.
