Israel is preparing to participate in the “Expo 2020” exhibition in Dubai, in a new advanced step in relations between the UAE and Israel.
Under the slogan “Towards Tomorrow” in both Hebrew and Arabic, the Israeli pavilion was erected under the auspices and supervision of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Inside the suite, walkways are made of a thin layer of concrete and painted sand color.
“We are very happy,” said Menachem Gantz, the pavilion’s communications officer, quoted by AFP. It is the first time that an Expo has been organized in the Middle East, and the first time that Israel has participated in an event of this magnitude and importance. A global event of this importance in an Arab country.”
According to Gantz, the Israeli pavilion was built “out of common elements that show how similar we are,” explaining, “For example, the sand on which we stand symbolizes the dunes. The geography of Israel and the UAE is very similar.”
