Tel Aviv District Maritime Police officers were called this afternoon (Tuesday) to handle an emergency incident near the marina in Herzliya, upon receiving a report of a windsurfer failing to lift the mast and sail and being swept close to the breakwater in a life-threatening manner.

The officers quickly reached the surfer via the naval police ship and threw a rope at the surfer to drag him with the surfboard and rescue him from the dangerous area to the safe maritime space in front of Gordon Beach, in a way that allows him to surf safely again.

Meanwhile, the Nature and Parks Authority reported that during the holiday and weekdays, 1.23 million hikers visited the Israeli trails, an all-time high. Compared to the holidays of the previous two years, this is an increase of 23%.
