The United Arab Emirates University launched the Sustainable Development Goals Research Program to support national efforts and to raise awareness of the importance of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals among the student community and the university community by providing research funding to student research groups.
Dr. Ahmed Ali Murad, Associate Deputy for Scientific Research at the UAE University, pointed out that scientific research is an essential pillar in the development of nations and the building of civilizations and contributes to achieving the sustainable development goals of the United Nations for the prosperity, well-being and sustainability of societies for the benefit of humanity. In this sense, and the university’s pioneering and societal role, the UAE University is launching the Sustainable Development Goals Research Program.
This is to support national efforts and to raise awareness of the importance of the United Nations sustainable development goals among the student community and the university community by providing research funding to student research groups to research, test and apply the research idea to find flexible, comprehensive and sustainable solutions under the supervision of a faculty member from one of the university’s colleges.
Dr. Ahmed Murad stated that this research program is directed to university students of all disciplines, so that each research project includes 3 to 5 students, whether from university education or postgraduate studies, under the supervision of a faculty member, as the duration of the project extends to 4 months and the research teams are expected to present the results Research on March 17th.
The Associate Deputy for Scientific Research explained: We welcome new and innovative contributions or methods that contribute to improving and developing current solutions to achieve sustainable development goals, especially that this program aims to enhance the spirit of participation and contribute to building research skills among university students, considering scientific research is a skill required by the future labor market. . The research program will address positive research solutions to national and global challenges related to poverty, food security, water and energy challenges, health, gender equality, climate change, and peace.
The UAE University is making maximum educational and research efforts to enhance its global leadership through its contribution to providing scientific solutions based on data and scientific experiences, to contribute to raising the international and positive reputation of the UAE University through various scientific research programs, in order to achieve the sustainable development goals to be achieved by 2030 to form a road map To achieve a better and more sustainable future for all human beings.
