Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), inspected the site of the “Dubai Mountain Summit” and “Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls” projects in Hatta, which are among the major projects implemented by the authority in Hatta. This comes in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to provide a decent living for the residents of Hatta and to enhance the position of the region, as one of the most prominent tourist attractions in the Emirate of Dubai and the UAE.
During his visit, Al Tayer listened to a detailed explanation by the project manager on the latest developments related to the approval of engineering designs for the Dubai Mountain Summit project, and was briefed on the implementation time plan, challenges and how to overcome them. International consultants specialized in this field have been appointed to ensure the completion of the project according to the highest international standards in quality, safety and security.
6 new projects in the Hatta region, announcing the launch of a new prosperous development phase in it, in various sectors, based on the foundations of the great success of the Hatta development plan, which was launched in 2016, and made the region a tourist destination. These projects will contribute to the development of the Hatta region, in a large and vital way at all levels, including turning it into an attractive locally and internationally, at the tourism level, through these pioneering and innovative projects, which are projects that will promote sustainable development.
Al Tayer said: In implementing the Dubai Mountain Summit and Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls projects, we are keen to use the latest, most advanced and safe technologies to suit the geological factors of the region, taking into account the highest international environmental standards to preserve the Hatta Mountain Reserve and to harmonize the project with its surroundings, and provide a qualitative and unique experience. To the tourist and show the beauty of the mountainous regions in the Emirates.
He explained that the projects implemented by the authority in Hatta will provide about 500 jobs, including 200 jobs in the technical, administrative and operational fields, and more than 300 jobs in the visitor center, outdoor activities and tourism facilities.
5.4 km cable car
The new holiday homes will provide an annual income of more than 100 million dirhams for the citizens of this region.
He continued, “The projects will contribute to achieving comprehensive development in this region, especially the Dubai mountain summit project, which includes the construction of a 5.4-kilometre cable car to transport tourists from the Hatta Dam area to the Umm Al Nsour summit in the Hatta region, the highest natural peak in the Emirate of Dubai, with a height of up to 1,300 meters.” above sea level. The project will constitute a new tourist attraction in addition to the many attractions that the UAE enjoys. The cable car route will pass over the Hatta Dam lake and the upper dam lake for the hydroelectric power station project implemented by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority in Hatta, passing through the mountain range until it reaches the summit of Umm Al-Nisour.
Three main stations
The project includes three main stations, including the departure station, which will be built on an upper platform above the Hatta Dam and connected to car parks using an advanced means of transportation, the intermediate station, which contains a viewing platform and facilities to serve tourists, an international hotel that will be built according to the highest specifications and standards, and the summit station, which will include a platform Panoramic view, facilities to meet the needs of tourists and hotel suites belonging to the main hotel. The project will also include mountain climbing trails, recreational facilities, in addition to other services that provide a world-class tourist environment.
Al Tayer was also briefed on the progress of work on the Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls project, which started in May 2021, where the consultant submitted the project’s initial study and it was approved. Dubai Electricity and Water Authority is now in the stage of preparing the final designs and material specifications to prepare the project tender documents to be submitted before the end of this September, provided that the envelopes are opened and the project contract awarded by mid-November 2021, and the project is completed and opened by mid-November 2022.
Hatta Dam slope
The Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls project is one of the prominent projects that will be implemented during the coming period, by investing the slope of the Hatta Dam, using it as a natural waterfall, and creating a water stream along the parking lots below the dam, so that this water can be collected at the end of the stream, recycled and pumped to the part The upper slope of the slope, in addition to fish farming, which constitutes an additional attraction for children and families, as well as the development of the area, to include recreational spaces and restaurants.
