Bad news: The 12-year-old boy who was fatally injured this week died on Thursday morning in a fire that broke out in an apartment on Weisburg Street in Petah Tikva. The Schneider Center for Pediatrics said in the last hour: “The 12-year-old who was hospitalized in the intensive care unit at the Schneider Center for Pediatrics after the fire in Petah Tikva, died tonight. We share the family’s grief.”

The child on the night between Wednesday and Thursday in a critical condition to the hospital during resuscitation operations following a fire in his home. In the tragic incident, a 50-year-old man was seriously injured by smoke inhalation, and two other children were lightly injured. The fire brigade said after the fire that at around 2:30 in the morning, several calls were received about a fire in an apartment on Weisburg Street in Petah Tikva and that there was probably a child trapped in the apartment. The commander of the incident, Rabbi Reshef Oz Cohen, said: “When we arrived with reinforced teams, I noticed a lot of smoke surrounding the building and flames coming out of the apartment window. There was already an indication that a 12-year-old boy was trapped in the apartment. The firefighters continued to search and release smoke in the building’s apartments. A 12-year-old boy was evacuated in a critical condition, an adult in moderate condition and two children in a light condition. The circumstances of the fire are now being investigated by a fire investigator. “Citizens should install an independent smoke detector in the apartments, which saves lives and alerts them immediately at the beginning of the fire.”

Paramedics from the Rescue Union who arrived first at the scene were prepared to receive the wounded from the burning apartment on the first floor. They noted that firefighters who searched the burning apartment rescued the 12-year-old boy and rescue union medics began resuscitation operations until the rest of the rescue forces arrived. The Rescue Union also said that the older man was apparently evacuated in a critical condition. Neria Hajabi, a paramedic from the Rescue Union who treated the difficult scene, said: “This is a very difficult incident, the child suffered from multiple burns and smoke inhalation. We performed advanced resuscitation operations on him and he was evacuated in an intensive care unit during resuscitation operations. “Oxygen in the arena for a 50-year-old man who was seriously injured by smoke inhalation and was also evacuated in an intensive care unit. Two other children were treated in a light condition in the arena after inhaling smoke.”
