Wael Gomaa, the director of the national team, confirmed that the Portuguese coach, Carlos Queiroz, the coach of the Egyptian team, spoke during his first session with members of the technical staff of Al-Munthab and stressed the need to work towards qualifying for the 2022 World Cup.
“The Portuguese coach, Carlos Queiroz, always talks, from the first session, about the goal of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup,” Gomaa said in statements to Ontime Sports 2:
He added, “I defended the Egyptian national team earlier as a player, and now in this position I will try to provide everything for the team, and all members of the former technical staff of the team did not fail, but they did not succeed.”
He continued, “We are lucky to have Portuguese coach Queiroz with us, because he has a strong career, played 4 World Cup finals and has strong experiences.”
He continued, “The Egyptian team is great and really deserves to be trained by the elite coaches in the world. The Egyptian team is a mandate and honor for any player who gets this opportunity. We lived through a period of instability and we hope that the team will return to its former glory.”
And he concluded: “Queiroz asked for a detailed report on any Egyptian player who is in any country in the world, and the Egyptian team is open to everyone.”
