And Blinken, during a session of the Committee on Foreign Relations in the US Senate, was pressured by Republican Senator Jim Rich, who mentioned the incident of turning off President Biden’s microphone during a recent press conference.
The senator said: “There is someone in the White House who has the power to press a button that interrupts the president’s voice. Who is that person?”
Blinken smiled in response to this question and stressed that everyone who knows Biden knows that he always speaks clearly and thoughtfully.
But Rich pointed out that the aforementioned incident was not the first of its kind, pointing out that there are multiple reports that say that someone can press a button that turns off Biden’s microphone to prevent the president from speaking.
Blinken again denied the existence of such a person, noting that Biden controls his statements and makes all strategic decisions himself.
In response to new questions from the senator, the Secretary of State expressed his conviction that “anyone who would try to prevent the president from saying what he wanted to say, would not have been in office for long.”
