In his first words after his first appearance in the Manchester United shirt 12 years ago, Cristiano Ronaldo spoke of his happiness by winning and scoring at the expense of Newcastle United, in the fourth week of the Premier League.
“My return to Old Trafford was a brief reminder of the secret of calling this stadium the Theater of Dreams,” Ronaldo wrote in a message on the social networking platform “Instagram”.
“For me, this stadium was a magical place where you could achieve whatever you set your mind to,” he added.
“With my team-mates and with the incredible encouragement we always get from the stands, we face the road ahead with confidence and optimism that we will celebrate together in the end.”
He concluded, “I am proud to be back at Man United and to play in the Premier League again, but above all, happy to help the team. Let’s go, devils.”
Ronaldo opened his second period in the Red Devils shirt in the best possible way, as he scored the first goal from a follow-up to Mason Greenwood’s shot, and after Javier Manquilo equalized for the visitors, Madeira’s missile recovered the lead with the second goal, followed by Bruno Fernandez and Jesse Lingard with the third and fourth goals.
This win raised Manchester United’s tally to 10 points, temporarily at the top of the Premier League table.
It is noteworthy that Ronaldo joined the Manchester Red for the first time in 2003 from Sporting Lisbon, then left in 2009 to Real Madrid, from which he moved to Juventus in 2018, before returning to Old Trafford again.
