US court: Apple won’t force developers to use in-app purchase rules

A US court has ruled that Apple will no longer be allowed to force developers to use in-app purchase rules, i.e. prevent them from providing links or other communications that direct users away from Apple in-app purchases.
US District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers made the decision in a closely watched trial between Apple and Epic Games, CNBC reported.
The decision ends the first part of the battle between the two companies over Apple’s App Store policies and whether they stifle competition.
Apple won 9 of 10 counts, but it will have to change its App Store policies and loosen its grip on in-app purchases.
