Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool player and captain of the national team, arrived in Gabon to join the team’s camp in preparation for the match against Gabon tomorrow, Sunday, as part of the second round of African qualifiers for the World Cup in Qatar.

In a related development, Dr. Mohamed Abu El-Ela, the doctor of the first national football team, received a medical report from the medical staff of the English club Arsenal, confirming that Mohamed Elneny, the Arsenal player, could not catch up with the team’s mission in Gabon because he suffered a muscle injury during his team’s training last Thursday morning.

The Egyptian Football Association had made a great effort towards ending its official agreement with Arsenal FC for the player to join the team’s mission in Gabon.

Egypt’s national team won a difficult victory over Angola with a clean goal, in the match that was held between them on Wednesday evening, at the Air Defense Stadium in the framework of the first round of the African qualifying matches for the World Cup. The team’s only goal was scored by Mohamed Magdy Afsha from a penalty kick obtained by Ahmed Aboul Fotouh. After the Angola defender tackled him inside the penalty area in the 4th minute.

Although Egypt defeated Angola 1-0, the team ranked second behind the leaders Libya after its 2-1 victory over Gabon in the meeting held in Libya.
