Social media accounts circulated a video clip showing a young woman jumping from the window of a building in the Turkish city of Antalya, and local media said that she did so in order to escape from her kidnappers.
According to the Turkish newspaper, Cumhuriyet, a 19-year-old girl, Shirin, jumped from a window 10 meters from the street, and crashed into a parked car, then onto the sidewalk.
According to the newspaper, Shirin claimed that she was forcibly detained, and that she was held hostage by people coming from Iran who tried to sell her.
Sherine was quoted as saying, “They kidnapped me and took me hostage. They came from Iran. These are organizations, they tried to sell me.”
For its part, the Turkish authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to look into its circumstances.
According to the local newspaper, “Taqweem”, the young woman was screaming “Save me” as she jumped out of the window.
The young woman appears in the video while trying to jump, after she threw her feet out of the window, before jumping recklessly in conjunction with a number of passers-by who rushed to help her and called for an ambulance.
According to the Daily Mail, passers-by tried to dissuade the young woman from jumping and returning to the house, but she did not respond to them.
The young woman was injured as a result of a fall, and her pictures appeared wearing a neck brace while the ambulance staff dealt with her.
