In the sky of the Arab world, tomorrow, Sunday, September 5, 2021, the planet Venus, the symbol of beauty, will be paired with the defenseless star of Asmak on the southwestern horizon, in an event seen with the naked eye.
The head of the Astronomical Society in Jeddah, Eng. Majed Abu Zahra, explained that Venus will appear first after about 45 minutes or before sunset, noting that it is the brightest planet and brighter than the defenseless fish. Visible to the naked eye about 60 minutes after sunset and will separate.
And he said: “Asmach is the brightest star in the constellation Virgo. It is one of the summer stars in the northern hemisphere of the Earth, and although it appears as a single point of light, it is in fact a binary star system about 240 light years away from our solar system.”
Abu Zahra reported that for those living in the far northern latitudes, Venus and the defenseless fish will follow the sun below the horizon shortly after its setting, as for those in the southern latitudes, the planet and star will remain above the horizon after dark night.
The President of the Astronomical Society in Jeddah attributed the reason for this to the fact that at sunset and the beginning of the night on the evenings of September, the path of the sun, the moon and the planets is at its highest level during the year in the southern half of our planet, but in the northern half, the opposite happens, as the path of the sun decreases to its lowest level in this the time.
